Hyperliquid Shifted Into Hyperdrive in August
At a White House crypto summit, President Trump said the CFTC was working to bring Hyperliquid into the US in a “fully compliant and legal fashion”, although no formal approval has been announced. HYPE jumped approximately 15% (August 19, 2026) following the remarks and subsequently reached a record high.

Why the Hype?
Hyperliquid has evolved from a decentralized perpetual-futures venue into an onchain marketplace spanning crypto and traditional-asset-linked markets. The MarketVector™ Hyperliquid Index (MVHYPE) provides a robust USD reference price as regulatory attention, trading activity and investor interest converge.
The MarketVector™ Hyperliquid Index is designed to be a robust price for Hyperliquid in USD. The Hyperliquid token, HYPE, launched on November 29, 2024 through Hyperliquid’s “Genesis Event” and began trading against USDC. Hyperliquid’s HIP-3 platform reported a trading volume of $73 billion in August 2026, with stocks accounting for 67% of the transaction volume, totaling $49 billion. The platform expects stocks to surpass commodities as the top trading category in 2026 [KuCoinFlast, August 27, 2026].
The migration of trading activity from centralized to decentralized exchange venues is one of the fastest shifts in crypto markets.
